Virgil van Dijk has promised Liverpool FC fans that he and his team-mates are going to try and “win everything” this season.

The Reds have been in fine form in the Premier League so far this term and they have won all five of their opening games to leave them joint top of the table with Chelsea FC.

Liverpool FC also kicked off their Champions League campaign in style on Tuesday night when they sealed a dramatic 3-2 win over PSG at Anfield.

The Merseyside outfit are now preparing for their Premier League clash against Southampton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon as they aim to make it six wins from six in the top flight.

And Van Dijk believes that the Reds are capable of challenging for all of the major trophies this season as Liverpool FC look to try and win their first piece of silverware under Jurgen Klopp.

Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website, Van Dijk said: “This is a great time to be a Liverpool player. Everyone is excited, everyone wants to be a part of it and though we know the season is very long, with four competitions to play in, we want to win everything. That is basically our mindset.

“You need to have ambitions, and with the size of this club and its history we are going to try to win everything.

“It is going to be hard, and there will be days when we have downs, but we have shown we can react to tough situations and at the moment I am not worried about anything.

“There is a lot of belief in this team, in the whole squad in fact. Everyone is there for each other.”

Liverpool FC ended up in fourth place in the Premier League table last season and without a trophy.

The Reds reached the Champions League final last term but ended up losing 3-1 to Real Madrid in the showpiece in Kiev back in May.
