Tony Adams has admitted his disappointment that Arsenal have not shown more resilience under Unai Emery this season.

The Gunners have made a mixed start to the new campaign, with Emery’s men having won two and lost two of the opening four Premier League games.

Arsenal made it back to back victories in the top flight last weekend when they took on Cardiff City and sealed a 3-2 victory in Wales on Sunday afternoon.

However, Emery’s men slipped to back to back defeats in their opening two games after losing to Chelsea FC and Manchester City in their first two fixtures.

And former Arsenal captain Adams has admitted that he was disappointed that the north London side were not able to show more resilience during those opening games.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Tuesday, Adams said: “Resilience, resilience, resilience. I want a strong back four and a couple of screeners.

“Since Gilberto left we’ve not had a strong screener.

“Ashley Cole and Sol Campbell were the last two defenders who actually knew how to defend.

“I know we had tough games against Man City and Chelsea but I was just a bit disappointed we weren’t more resilient.”

Arsenal will look to make it three wins in a row in the Premier League when the Gunners take on Newcastle United away from home after the international break.

The north London side are looking to break back into the top four this season after having finished in sixth place and without a trophy under Arsene Wenger last term.
