Robbie Savage has hinted that Liverpool FC could be destined for Premier League title glory this season.
The Reds laid down a marker in the Premier League last weekend following a 2-1 win over title rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Georginio Wijnaldum broke the deadlock from a corner before Roberto Firmino secured three points.
The Reds have beaten West Ham United, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Leicester City before their triumph at Wembley – and they beat Southampton on Saturday to keep up their 100 per cent start.
Liverpool FC have finished in second place on three occasions in the Premier League era but Jurgen Klopp is still waiting to win their first trophy under the German manager.
And former Leicester star Savage believes the Reds are genuine Premier League title contenders this season.
“This could be Liverpool FC’s year,” Savage told BBC Radio 5 Live. “If they had left Wembley with 7-1, they would have said it was fair.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth spot in the Premier League table last term to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
The Reds signed AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho, RB Leipzig star Naby Keita, Stoke playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
The Merseyside outfit won their first five games at the start of the season for the first time since 1990, before claiming a 3-0 win over Southampton at the weekend.
