Piers Morgan took to social media to single out Mesut Ozil for special praise after the playmaker helped to fire Arsenal to a 2-0 win over Watford in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Germany playmaker has regularly been criticised for failing to produce consistent performances for Arsenal, but he was on hand to double his side’s lead in the second half and help Unai Emery’s men record their fifth straight victory in the top flight.
A Craig Cathcart own goal had given Arsenal the lead in the 81st minute after a goalless first half in north London.
And Ozil popped up to net a second just four minutes later as Arsenal moved up into fifth place in the Premier League table.
Arsenal shareholder and celebrity fan Morgan was clearly impressed by what he saw from the playmaker as he took to social media to praise the 29-year-old after his goal.
Morgan wrote on Twitter: “BOOM! 2-0. Great run and finish by @MesutOzil1088. Liked his passion after he scored too. Looks like Emery has got him fired up again.”
In a separate tweet, Morgan then added: “Seven consecutive League/Cup wins for Arsenal. Nice work @UnaiEmery_.”
Arsenal had made a stuttering start to the new season after back to back losses to Chelsea FC and Manchester City, but they have improved their form and have won their last seven games in all competitions.
The Gunners, though, have still not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
