Paul Scholes believes Liverpool FC’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United in March will end up being the result that costs Jurgen Klopp’s side the Premier League title.

The Reds are sitting in second place in the Premier League table and two points behind defending champions Manchester City with two games to go.

Liverpool FC have won their last seven Premier League games since a 0-0 draw with Everton at Goodison Park at the start of April.

The 18-time English champions have eased to victories over Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur during that winning run but Manchester City haven’t faltered either.

Liverpool FC have only lost one Premier League game this season following a 2-1 defeat by Manchester City at The Etihad back in January.

Klopp’s side went through a run in February and March where they collected 10 points from six Premier League fixtures to allow Manchester City to overhaul the Reds.

Liverpool FC were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford as the Reds failed to make the breakthrough against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s injury-ravaged team.

And former Manchester United midfielder Scholes believes that result will end up costing Liverpool FC the title.

“What these two teams have done, right through the season, has been sensational,” Scholes told Premier League productions, as quoted by Metro.

“I won’t feel sorry for either of them… But you’ve got to admire what they’ve done.

“When you look back, Liverpool’s biggest mistake was not beating Manchester United at Old Trafford.

“When you see how many players United were missing… they then had three injuries. Lingard came on and had to go off.

“Liverpool were really poor that day and you saw the difference the other night when City came to Old Trafford and were dominant and looked a really top team.

“Liverpool, ironically, could have lost the title at Old Trafford.”

Liverpool FC supporters could point to stalemates with West Ham, Everton or Leicester as games that the Merseyside outfit should have won.
