Paul Merson has rubbished the suggestion that Chelsea FC have a “psychological edge” over Liverpool FC ahead of their Premier League meeting on Saturday evening.
The Premier League title contenders will meet for the second time in four days at Stamford Bridge this weekend after their Carabao Cup showdown mid-week.
Liverpool FC appeared to be edging towards the League Cup fourth round after Daniel Sturridge broke the deadlock in the second half at Anfield.
Chelsea FC responded through Emerson Palmieri after the Brazilian defender finished from close range to offer Chelsea FC hope of a snatch and grab win.

The Reds have lost their last two meetings with the west London side in all competitions ahead of their Premier League meeting this weekend.
However, former Arsenal star Merson doesn’t believe previous results will have an impact on Saturday’s clash at Stamford Bridge.
“I don’t think Chelsea will have a psychological edge, Liverpool rested their back four and it will be completely different from Wednesday,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I thought Chelsea were outstanding in the first half but Liverpool got back into it and it will give them confidence to say ‘right, we can break them down’.
Liverpool FC were 2-1 winners against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in their toughest test in the Premier League season so far.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League crown but finished in second spot in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
