Pat Nevin believes Eden Hazard is on the brink of a “purple patch” for Chelsea FC.
The Blues forward has made a brilliant start to the Premier League season under new manager Maurizio Sarri.
Hazard scored his second-ever Chelsea FC hat-trick at the weekend in a 4-1 win over Cardiff City to secure three points.
The 27-year-old has scored five times in five games to contribute to Chelsea FC’s perfect start to the campaign.
Hazard, who was linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, has often been criticised for his failure to produce in excess of 20 goals a season.
The Belgium international’s best return for a campaign is his 16-goal haul in Chelsea FC’s title-winning season under Antonio Conte in 2016-17.
Mo Salah scored 43 times in all competitions last season to lay down the marker in the Premier League following his move from AS Roma last summer.
Former Chelsea FC star Nevin believes Hazard is hitting top form and the Belgian star could finally produce figures worthy of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
“The point with both of those stars [Messi and Ronaldo] is that they went into overdrive in the mid points of their careers in terms of goals scored, and you just wonder if Eden is about to hit a similar purple patch,” Nevin told Chelsea FC’s website.
“Five goals already this season for Chelsea, with a couple for Belgium thrown in too and he is already getting close to double figures. We haven’t even reached October yet and that is very exciting.”
Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a Champions League spot.
The Blues are sitting at the top of the Premier League table.
