Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that Alexis Sanchez could still have a future at Manchester United despite shipping him out on loan to Inter Milan.
The 30-year-old was confirmed as an Inter Milan player last week after months of speculation about his future at Old Trafford.
Sanchez will now be hoping to hold down a regular run of football in the first team at Inter Milan as he bids to try and regain his form.
The Chile international has struggled to find consistent form in a Manchester United shirt since signing for the Red Devils from Arsenal back in January 2018.
Manchester United have now made the decision to move the attacker away for the season to see whether he can regain top form.
However, Solskjaer has insisted that he still considers Sanchez to be part of his plans at Old Trafford in the future despite the move.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Solskjaer said: “I am sure we will see Alexis back.
“We have just got to hope that he plays regular football for a year now and then he can find his form.
“I had a chat with him and for me, if I can’t guarantee regular football for Alexis Sanchez it is better for the two of us that he goes and plays in Italy and shows us what we know he is capable of.”
“When asked whether Sanchez could still feature in his plans, Solskaer added: “Definitely. This is a loan for a year.
“We expect them [Sanchez and Chris Smalling who has joined Roma] to be professional. Go there and represent Manchester United as well. We want them to do well.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday 14 September.
The Red Devils have not won the Premier League title since their final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
