Michael Carrick believes that David De Gea proved himself as the world’s best goalkeeper once again with his performance in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Watford on Saturday.
De Gea was in fine form once again for Jose Mourinho’s men as he helped the Red Devils to claim all three points by securing a victory against the Hornets.
The Spanish shot-stopper earned lots of praise as he produced a stoppage-time save late on to deny Christian Kabasele from netting an equaliser for Watford.
De Gea has earned a reputation as one of European football’s top goalkeepers since his move to Manchester United from Atletico Madrid back in 2011 under Sir Alex Ferguson.
And Carrick singled out De Gea for special praise after Saturday’s victory.
Speaking in an interview with MUTV after the game, Carrick replied when asked about De Gea’s display: “He’s not bad! He’s done it again. That’s why he’s without doubt the best.”
Manchester United are now preparing to kick off their Champions League group stage campaign when they host Young Boys at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils are aiming to establish themselves as one of the main contenders for both the Premier League and Champions League this term after they ended up without a trophy under Mourinho last season.
