Maurizio Sarri has outlined the improvements that he wants to see from his Chelsea FC players after the Blues dropped their first Premier League points of the season on Sunday.
Sarri’s side had won all five of their opening games but they were held to a frustrating goalless draw by West Ham United in the top flight at the London Stadium this weekend.
The west London side have been earning lots of praise for their strong performances this season following Sarri’s appointment as Antonio Conte’s successor back in July.
However, their draw against the Hammers this weekend has allowed Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC team to pull two points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
And Sarri has admitted that he wants to see more from his Chelsea FC players as they prepare to take on Liverpool FC twice in the next week – first in the third round of the League Cup and then at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Sunday, Sarri said: “We need to move the ball quicker.
“We need more movement without the ball. We are improving in the defensive phase in the last two or three matches, but we have to improve in the offensive phase, especially in this kind of match [against West Ham].”
Chelsea FC are aiming to at least break back into the top four this season after they finished in fifth place and won the FA Cup under Conte last term.
