KANYE West has said sorry for claiming that “slavery was a choice” – and almost broke down while he did it.
The controversial rapper was speaking on local radio station WGCI in Chicago and finally apologise for what he said four month ago.
He said: “I have never really approached or addressed the slavery comment fully.
“And it’s not something for me to overly intellectualise.
“This is something about the fact that it hurt people’s feelings and the way that I presented that piece of information.”
“I don’t know if I properly apologised for how that slave comment made people feel.
He continued:”I am sorry for hurrying – I am sorry for the one two effect of the MAGA (Make America Great Again) hat into the slave comment.”
As Kanye was visiting the TMZ office in LA he was filmed saying: “When you hear about slavery for 400 years, for 400 years? “That sounds like a choice.
“We’re mentally imprisoned.”

He then went on: “And also I appreciate you guys giving me the opportunity to talk to you about the way I was thinking and what I was going through.”
During the interview the Yeezy rapper could be seen fighting back tears but then appeared to lighten the mood by saying: “One thing that I got from the TMZ comment is how much black people love me.”
Kanye, who is married to Kim Kardashian, also responded online to being mocked for wearing a pair of Yeezy sliders that were too small.
He posted a picture on twitter of a Japanese sandal with the caption: “The Japanese way.”
Dad-of -three Kanye wore the offending sandles to his pal 2 Chainz wedding to Kesha Ward.
He teamed it with a green Louis Vuitton suit and was accompanied by Kim, 37, who sore a lime green PVC dress.
