Jose Mourinho has joked that Manchester United won’t want to sack him any time soon because it would cost too much money to give him the boot.
The Portuguese coach’s situation at Old Trafford has been a constant source of speculation in recent weeks after Manchester United’s stuttering start to the new campaign.
Manchester United have only won two of their opening four Premier League games this season to pile the pressure on the Portuguese coach at Old Trafford.
They did manage to return to winning ways on Sunday afternoon when they sealed a 2-0 victory over Burnley away from home.
However, the Red Devils are still six points off the pace in the race for the Premier League title and Mourinho has cut an extremely frustrated figure at Old Trafford in recent weeks.
Now though, Mourinho has joked that the Red Devils won’t want to sack him any time soon because of the pay-off they would have to give him.
Speaking in an interview with Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Mourinho said: “They say I’m in danger, but I don’t think so.
“If they sent me away, do you have any idea how much money they would have to give me?!”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break as they look to try and make it back to back wins when they take on Watford away from home.
