Lee Peltier has said that Liverpool FC right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has made a promising start to life on Merseyside.

Alexander-Arnold played a huge role in Liverpool FC’s journey to the Champions League final last year, where they lost to Real Madrid.

Peltier, another Liverpool FC academy right-back, believes the experiences Alexander-Arnold is currently having on Merseyside and with the England national team puts him in good stead for a special career.

He told the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red podcast: “I think he’s a really, really good player and he’s going to get better with more experience and more games. He’s been to the World Cup now.

“He’s a really good young player, he’s got plenty of ability and potential.

“He’s has taken that position as his own now.

“Hopefully he keeps improving.

“He is only young and he will have his ups and downs but people have to realise how young he is, but he’s made a fantastic start to his Liverpool career.”

Alexander-Arnold is a Liverpudlian and joined Liverpool FC’s academy when he was just six years old.

After first-choice right-back Nathaniel Clyne suffered a serious back injury last season, Alexander-Arnold was drafted in first in the League Cup and then the Premier League where he went on to have a dream debut season.

He was a major part of Liverpool FC’s swashbuckling play providing options on the right wing and delivering key passes and crosses with aplomb.

His performances led to him being called up by Gareth Southgate into his 23-man squad for the summer’s World Cup in Russia.

He made his England debut in the 2-0 warm-up win over Costa Rica at Elland Road, before going on to appear in England’s group-stage 1-0 defeat to Belgium.
