THE Duchess of Cambridge has beaten Meghan to be crowned this year’s biggest royal influence on style.

Kate, rather than newcomer the Duchess of Sussex, had the biggest impact on shopping habits, said eBay’s annual UK Retail Report.

Her style while pregnant with Prince Louis generated more online searches on eBay than any other royal over the past year.

Enquiries for tailored maternity coats more than tripled in November 2017, while Kate was expecting her third child.

And in April, searches for designer Jenny Packham doubled when Kate appeared outside the Lindo Wing in a red smock for Louis’ debut.

Her choice of Packham, Alexander McQueen and Seraphine saw a 20 per cent rise in searches for the designers, hitting 43 per hour.

Meghan’s fashion influencing power peaked in May at her wedding to Prince Harry.

The Givenchy dress she wore led to a 60 per cent rise in searches, peaking at 55 an hour.

Rob Hattrell, of eBay, said: “While Meghan was the focus of the fashion pages, Kate’s style has long been a hit.”

In third place was Princess Charlotte, top in 2017, with brother George fourth and the Queen fifth.
