Marko Grujic is set to move to Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin on
a season-long loan but he will sign a contract with the Reds before he leaves Anfield.
According to Liverpool Echo, the player – who was linked with Cardiff and Crystal Palace last month – has been offered a new deal by the Merseyside club and he is expected to accept the offer before he flies to Germany where he will link up with the Berlin outfits for the rest of this season.
It was reported that the Serbian was courted by Serie A side Torino, who made a €10m bid for his signature, but Jurgen Klopp failed to listen to the offer as he isn’t ready to partway with the 22-year-old on a permanent basis.
Grujic helped Cardiff gain promotion to the country’s top flight League last season but he turned down the chance to represent them this season in Premier League.
Championship side Middleborough also contacted the player’s representative for discussion over the possibility of getting him on loan but all their efforts prove abortive as Grujic didn’t want a return to Championship this season.
He is set to sign a three-year contract which will keep him at Anfield till 2021, though, he needs to prove to Klopp he deserves a place in the manager’s list of regular players next season.
