Darren Fletcher singled out Luke Shaw for special praise after he helped Manchester United to begin their Champions League campaign with a 3-0 win against Young Boys.
Shaw had struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Manchester United last season following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor back in 2016.
The left-back has struggled with injuries in recent seasons but Mourinho also appeared not to fully trust the defender as his playing time was extremely limited last term.
However, Shaw has begun this season strongly and he has been a regular fixture in the Manchester United team, scoring one goal in four Premier League appearances so far.
He also played the full 90 minutes on Wednesday night as he helped Manchester United to claim a 3-0 win at Young Boys in their Champions League group opener in Switzerland.
And former Manchester United star Fletcher has been impressed by what he has seen from Shaw in a Red Devils shirt so far this season.
Speaking to BBC Sport on Wednesday after the victory, Fletcher said: “United may have answered their questions at full-back.
“Luke Shaw started the season fantastically and he looked good again this evening.”
Shaw will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Saturday with a home clash against Wolves.
