CORONATION Street fans were left scratching their heads on Wednesday night as Peter Barlow’s hair dramatically changed between scenes.

Viewers tuning in to the long running ITV soap were tickled when character was seen with a long floppy fringe while he was at the warehouse – but then sporting a shorter style when at home and outside.

The changing hairstyles of Peter Barlow provoked amusement on Coronation Street

Wednesday night’s episode saw the businessman dealing with an array of scenarios – including meeting a new employee that looked like Tina McIntyre and coping with Simon’s mood swings.

But fans watching along at home were more mesmerised by his hair than anything else over the mid-week double bill.

One fan slammed the soap producers over the inconsistency of styles, tweeting: “@itvcorrie Do you employ anybody who keeps an eye on continuity? Peter Barlow’s hairstyle changes in every scene. It’s a complete and utter joke.”

While another asked if he was meant to be channelling a Ricky Gervais character.

But seconds later had a shorter, smarter do

“I’m on a roll today….. does Peter Barlow only “David Brent” his hair with a forward fringe when he is in meetings? It is swept back now he’s alone with Carla,” the viewer asked.

The changing hair caused quite the stir on social media – with many others taking to Twitter to comment on the character’s barnet.

“Why does Peter Barlow have a special hair do for work?” one asked.

Fans took to social media to ridicule Peter’s hair

“Peter Barlow’s hair keeps changing from scene to scene #Corrie #badcontinuity,” tweeted another.

“Is it just me or does Peter Barlow’s hair keep changing from floppy fringe to shortish in different scenes?” a further confused fan wrote.

While another joked: “Hey Peter Barlow has the fastest growing hair in showbiz!”

Indeed, a further fan asked if the forward fringe simply represented: “Peter Barlow’s business hair!”

In the action packed episode, Simon was almost kidnapped when masked men attempted to bundle him into a car.

Kate Connor quickly jumped into action to save Simon – with Peter trying to confront the would-be kidnappers as they sped away.

As the episode ended, it was revealed Simon had been receiving threatening text messages ahead of the incident – while Peter vowed to bring justice to the bullies.
