THE family of a man found drowned in Ibiza are demanding a police investigation into his death after discovering he was bottled during a fight shortly before he vanished.

Anwaar Lahrichi-Greenwood was found floating in the water off the party resort of San Antonio a fortnight ago, less than 48 hours after he went missing following a party.

Business consultant Anwaar Lahrichi-Greenwood’s body was discovered floating near the mouth of San Antonio harbour

Anwaar’s mother, Amina Lahrichi, 45, told The Mail on Sunday: “We want answers. For me it’s not good enough that my son went on holiday and now he’s dead.”

The paper reported that the family’s investigations showed he was attacked around 5am on August 4 near the town’s promenade.

They claimed witnesses came forward after they offered £5,000 for information into his death.

Among those was Jules Nelson, a 25-year-old chef from Blackburn, who befriended him in the early hours of the morning while they were all “worse for wear”.

He said: “I saw one of the Spanish lads pick up a bottle and it turned nasty, and a few words were being exchanged.

“Anwaar picked up a bottle himself but he didn’t use it – he put it down. Then the Spanish lads started hitting him and he was struck twice with a bottle.”

Police have previously said they have no evidence pointing towards a fight or attack taking place before the 24-year-old Londoner ended up in the water.

A grieving relative has also set up a social media account called Justice For Anwaar.

Anwaar’s aunt Souad Lahrichi, who is behind the appeal for information, said: “My nephew Anwaar Lahrichi Greenwood was killed on Saturday August 8. He was found in the marina in San Antonio.

“We are offering £5,000 for any information that may lead to a conviction. We as his family are desperate to find out what happened to our boy, my sister’s only son. Please help us help her find some peace.”

Investigators found marks on Anwaar’s body but said they could have been caused after death by his body hitting rocks

The message along the Instagram group Justiceforanwaar added: “Anwaar didn’t just die. He was killed. Help us to get him justice. Help us, help him when no-one else would.”

Further tests – expected to be carried out at a lab in Barcelona – will now seek to determine if he had consumed drink or drugs before he died.

Anwaar was due to fly back to Britain the day he disappeared.

He vanished after partying in San Antonio and was walking towards the party resort’s main beach called s’Arenal.

Friends and family paid tribute to Anwaar after it was confirmed the body pulled from the sea was his.

His sister Lula wrote online: “I feel so dead inside knowing I’ll never see you again..knowing you went on holiday and died in the sea alone…I tired to find you with all my power my love.

“My bro bro, my best friend. You were the best brother and you made me feel important and special.”
