Frank Lampard has revealed that Chelsea FC are hopeful that they will hear whether their appeal of a Fifa transfer ban has been successful or not within “days”.
The Blues were barred from making any new signings in the summer window and as things stand, the ban also applies to the January 2020 window as well.
However, the west London club have appealed the ban and are now waiting to hear whether it will be overturned in time for them to be able to make new signings in the new year.
Lampard has now confirmed that the Blues are waiting to hear the verdict within the next few days.
Speaking at a news conference before the clash against Aston Villa on Wednesday night, Lampard said: “I haven’t heard any more.
“So I will wait and reserve judgement until we get the judgement and see where we want to go from there.”
Asked when a decision is expected, Lampard replied: “Very soon, I believe. Days, I think.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime when they travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton.
They will then host French side Lille in their final Champions League group game on Tuesday night as they look to seal their progress to the last 16.
The Blues are aiming to try and finish in the top four this season after they ended up third under Maurizio Sarri last term.
