Ander Herrera has insisted that he was always happy at Manchester United, despite admitting that football didn’t seem like “the most important thing” at the club.
The Spanish midfielder left Old Trafford to sign for Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain in the summer after having spent five years at the club.
Herrera was a hugely popular figure amongst Manchester United fans and he played a key role in helping the Red Devils to win the Europa League and League Cup under Jose Mourinho in the 2016-17 season.
The Red Devils have made a stuttering start to the new Premier League season and they currently find themselves well off the pace in the race for Champions League qualification.
Herrera, meanwhile, has made one assist in six Ligue 1 appearances for PSG so far this season.
The 30-year-old midfielder was asked to reflect on his time at Manchester United in a recent interview, and the former Red Devils star delivered a glowing verdict on the club’s supporters.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Herrera said: “I was very happy at that incredible club. I am very grateful to the supporters.
“Frankly, I was immensely happy in Manchester, but at the club, there were times when I felt that football was not considered the most important thing.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Sheffield United away from home on 24 November.
