Michael Owen is backing Tottenham Hotspur to return to winning ways when they host Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday night.
Spurs have made something of a stuttering start to the new season and they were held to a 1-1 draw by Watford in the Premier League at the weekend.
Indeed, the north London side currently find themselves down in seventh place in the Premier League table after having won just three of their opening nine games in the top flight.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men suffered a humiliating 7-2 defeat by Bayern Munich in their most recent Champions League fixture.
Former Liverpool FC star Owen is backing Spurs to bounce back to winning ways with a home victory against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday night.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Spurs have conceded nine times in their two group games although they did pick up a point at Olympiacos on matchday one.
“Do note that last season Mauricio Pochettino’s side only collected one point from their first three games and still went on to reach the final.
“Red Star have lost all four of their Champions League away games in the group stages including a 4-0 loss at Anfield last season.
“Spurs’ record at their new stadium is patchy with just three wins in their last 10 games in all competitions, but they badly need a win to kick-start their season.
“I take Spurs to bounce back against the Serbs, in style, who have won their last six games in all competitions but did lose 3-0 in Munich against Bayern on matchday one.”
Tottenham will return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a crunch clash against leaders Liverpool FC at Anfield.
They then face a tricky trip to Everton in the top flight on Sunday 3 November.
