Maurizio Sarri is planning to raid Chelsea FC to bring Emerson Palmieri to Juventus in January, according to a report in Italy.
Italian website Calciomercato, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the former Blues manager is eager to sign Emerson to bolster his full-back options at Juventus.
The same article states that Sarri wants to add cover in that area of the pitch given Juve’s over-reliance on Brazil international Alex Sandro this season.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC will be reluctant to allow Emerson to leave given that the 25-year-old has established himself as first-choice under Sarri’s replacement Frank Lampard.
The former AS Roma defender kept Marcos Alonso out of the Chelsea FC team for the first five games before he suffered a thigh problem in a 2-1 loss to Liverpool FC last month.
The report goes on to say that Chelsea FC could kickstart contract negotiations with Emerson after there was talk of a new deal for the Brazilian last month.
Emerson has scored one goal in 40 appearances in all competitions since his move to Chelsea FC from AS Roma under Sarri’s predecessor Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea FC are in fifth place in the Premier League table after three victories in their last four games.
