Frank Lampard has told Chelsea FC fans that he has “no news” to give them regarding Willian’s contractual situation at the club.
The Brazilian attacker is out of contract at the end of the season and it remains to be seen whether he will sign a new deal with the west London side.
His situation means that he can speak to foreign clubs about a potential move as early as January, with a view to a possible free transfer in the summer.
Willian has been in and out of the Chelsea FC team this season but he produced a sparkling display as he scored and helped the Blues claim a 2-1 win over Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Lampard was asked about Willian’s situation after the game, and the Chelsea FC boss had no updates for fans, but he did hint that he is keen for the 31-year-old to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Lampard said: “I have got no news on the Willian contract.
“That’s a conversation between Willy, his representatives and the club.
“Everyone can see I’m happy with Willy on the pitch.”
Willian has only started three of Chelsea FC’s seven Premier League games so far this season.
He will be hoping to feature when the Blues make the trip to Southampton in the top flight on Sunday afternoon.
