Thomas Vermaelen is tipping Arsenal to improve this season under Unai Emery.
The Gunners have made a decent start to the new campaign by taking seven points from their opening four games to leave them in fifth place in the Premier League table.
The north London side came from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby clash at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal are aiming to try and break back into the top four this season after they finished in fifth place and without a trophy last season.
And former Gunners defender Vermaelen seems to think that the stage is set for the Gunners to improve on their fifth-placed finish this time around.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Sky Sports, Vermaelen said: “Arsenal have improved with the players they got in the summer. I think they did a good job in the transfer market.
“It’s a new Arsenal but it doesn’t mean it is going to be worse than last season or difficult now.
“Of course a few players have to adapt but I think there is a good manager there (Unai Emery) who wants to play football. I expect them to do better than last year.”
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph under Arsene Wenger back in 2003-04.
They will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Watford away from home on Sunday 15 September.
The Gunners beat Newcastle United and Burnley before a loss to Liverpool FC and their 2-2 draw with Spurs at The Emirates last weekend.
