Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to return to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco from Chelsea FC, according to a report in France.
French media outlet RMC, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that the France international is closing in on a return to AS Monaco.
The same article states that the 25-year-old will move to Monaco on a season-long loan after being deemed surplus to Frank Lampard’s plans.
According to the same story, AS Monaco will have the option to make the deal permanent for a £31.8m fee at the end of the 2019-20 season.
The Sun go on to add that Bakayoko is expected to complete a return to AS Monaco before Europe’s transfer deadline on 2 September.
Bakayoko moved to Chelsea FC from AS Monaco in a £40m deal under Antonio Conte in the 2017 summer transfer window.
The France midfielder was sent out on loan to AC Milan last season after Maurizio Sarri deemed the holding midfielder surplus to requirements.
Bakayoko has scored three times in 43 appearances in his Chelsea FC career during his one season as a first-team member at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea FC will be looking to secure successive Premier League victories when the Blues welcome promoted side Sheffield United to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
