Frank Lampard has admitted that his Chelsea FC side will need contributions from all areas of the pitch if they are to make up the goals scored by Eden Hazard in previous seasons.

The Blues are in the process of getting used to life without Hazard after they opted to sell the Belgium international to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Hazard is widely regarded as one of European football’s top attacking talents and he was a key player for the Blues last term as they won the Europa League and finished third in the table.

Chelsea FC were able to bring in Christian Pulisic in the summer transfer window in a pre-arranged deal but their hands were tied in the market because of the two-window transfer ban handed to them by Fifa.

With Lampard now getting to grips with life in charge of Chelsea FC, the former England international knows that the Blues are facing a challenge to try and score goals from all areas of the pitch following Hazard’s exit.

Speaking at a news conference at Cobham on Friday, Lampard said: “We’ll have to find them amongst the group because I know how many goals Eden Hazard was a part of in terms of scoring and assisting.

“These are facts that are real and we have to try and address them with work. The challenge is clear for the strikers and the attacking players: ‘Can you be the players to score those goals?’ because the top teams in the league tend to have players who are scoring regularly, that do win games that are tight, that do make you clear in games and good periods when you’re playing well and you need to score enough goals to put the game to bed.

“That’s the challenge for us. It’s something that we aren’t doing and we need to do.

“Every team is its own entity. We obviously have to score from different areas of the pitch. I think that’s pretty clear. We need to score more goals at this moment for sure.”

Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host newly-promoted Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge.
