Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that Manchester United are still aiming to make some new signings before next week’s transfer deadline.
The Red Devils have only signed two new players so far this summer after having tied up deals for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James earlier on in the transfer window.
Reports on Friday suggested that the 20-time English champions were on the brink of closing a deal to make Leicester City’s Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in the world.
Manchester United continue to be linked with a host of big names as Solskjaer looks to add to his squad before the Premier League season gets under way this weekend.
It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be able to get any further deals across the line before the transfer deadline on Thursday afternoon.
However, Solskjaer has now hinted that Manchester United are doing everything they can to add to their squad before the deadline.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Solskjaer said: “We’re looking good. Of course we’ve been working on a few cases over the summer. It’s never easy.
“The club has been very good and the market is very hard.
“We’re trying to get to the start of the season with the squad that we want.”
Manchester United will kick off their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Chelsea FC at Old Trafford on Sunday 11 August.
The Red Devils are aiming to try and break back into the top four this season after they finished in sixth place and without a trophy last term under Solskjaer.
Solskjaer was confirmed as the club’s new manager back in March after he was initially brought in as Jose Mourinho’s successor on a temporary basis.
