Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker all have a chance of featuring for Liverpool FC in their Community Shield clash with Manchester City this weekend.

The trio have only just returned to Liverpool FC training after enjoying extended summer holidays following their exploits for their international teams.

Salah was in Africa Cup of Nations action for Egypt, while Firmino and Alisson both helped Brazil to claim Copa America glory.

The trio have been training with the Reds in recent days as they look to regain their match fitness as soon as possible.

Liverpool FC will take on Manchester City in the annual season curtain-raiser at Wembley on Sunday afternoon as they aim to get the campaign off to a strong start.

And Klopp has refused to rule out the possibility of the trio being fit to feature when the Reds travel to north London this weekend.

Asked whether the trio could be involved on Sunday, Klopp told a news conference after his side’s 3-1 pre-season win over Lyon: “I don’t know yet in the moment, so that’s how it is. We have to see.

“I don’t say 100 per cent not, there’s a chance that they will play, yes. They will be involved whenever, from the start, maybe we cannot make these changes like today after half an hour or whatever, that’s maybe not possible in that game so we have to see.

“We have to see how they react tomorrow, now training is not the highest intensity anymore, now training is about the detail [and] we really need to prepare the game.

“Man City is different to all other games that you play – you have to play a pre-season game against Man City to prepare for Man City and we didn’t do that!

“We need to adapt to that but all good. Today was from a physical point of view very, very important for all the lads and from a psychological point of view of course as well.

“We are all human beings and losing football games we never get used to, so I’m really happy that we could change that today.”

Liverpool FC are aiming to go one step further in the Premier League this season after they ended up second and a point behind Manchester City last term.
