Manchester United still remain interested in signing Sean Longstaff from Newcastle this summer, despite the clubs being far apart in their valuation of the midfielder, according to reports.

Sky Sports is reporting that the Red Devils are still keen on a move to bring the 21-year-old midfielder to Old Trafford ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first full season in charge at the club.

The same story says that Newcastle informed Manchester United last weekend that Longstaff was not for sale, but that has seemingly not put the Red Devils off.

According to the article, Newcastle value the Englishman at close to £50m, but Manchester United are currently only prepared to pay closer to £20m.

However, the same article says that the player himself is still hopeful that a deal can be agreed this summer.

It is claimed in the same story that Newcastle United do not want to sell Longstaff because they see him as part of their future plans.

Manchester United have so far only signed Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer ahead of the new campaign.

The Red Devils do not have the lure of Champions League football to attract new players this summer after they finished in sixth place and without a trophy last term.
