Manchester United are lining up a £71.6m bid to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports in Italy.

Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Red Devils are keen to sign a new central midfielder this summer following the departure of Ander Herrera.

Milinkovic-Savic has been touted as a target for Manchester United in the past, and according to the same story, the Red Devils are now in talks with Lazio over a potential deal.

The same story claims that Manchester United are willing to pay as much as €80m (£71.6m) for the 24-year-old midfielder, but Lazio are holding out for a fee closer to €100m (£89.7m).

The Serbian midfielder scored five goals and made three assists in 31 Serie A games for the Italian club last season.

According to the same story, Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in a deal to sign Milikovic-Savic this summer.

Manchester United are thought to still be on the lookout for a number of signings this summer as they look to bring in reinforcements ahead of the new campaign.

The Red Devils have so far only signed Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first season in charge at the club.
