Reiss Nelson has insisted that he wants to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place in the first team at The Emirates next season.

The talented winger spent last season on loan to German side Hoffenheim and produced some decent form for the Bundesliga team.

The 19-year-old scored seven goals in the German top flight, despite having only been limited to seven starts in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim.

He made a total of 29 appearances in all competitions for Hoffenheim last season and clearly impressed during his time in Germany.

It is thought that Hoffenheim would be keen to keep Nelson beyond the summer, but the player himself has now underlined his desire to return to Arsenal and try and break into the first team.

Asked if he had improved during his time in Germany, Nelson is quoted as saying by Metro: “One hundred per cent. I learned a lot of stuff. I made a lot of friends, and also I made a good connection with the managers.

“They taught me a lot of stuff that I can take on in my career. It was difficult, leaving, but Arsenal are my team and I want to go back to Arsenal and play.

“I am Arsenal through and through. I support Arsenal. All my family support Arsenal.

“That’s an interaction I have with the fans. It’s a good thing. They support a lot of the young talent coming up through Arsenal. It’s good.”

Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his squad.

However, the Gunners are thought to have a limited transfer budget to spend on new recruits, and that could mean the likes of Nelson are given some regular playing time next season by Emery.
