AC Milan are ready to test Arsenal’s resolve to keep Lucas Torreira with a £31m offer for the Uruguay international, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that AC Milan are prepared to make an official offer for the South American this summer.
The same article states that AC Milan manager Marco Giampaolo is eager to reunite with Torreira at the San Siro after the pair worked together at Sampdoria.
According to the same story, Arsenal would be willing to consider selling Torreira if AC Milan were to make an offer closer to £45m.
It would represent a £19m profit for Arsenal after the north London side signed Torreira in a £26m deal from Sampdoria last summer.
The 23-year-old was a big hit with Arsenal supporters due to his combative performances in the middle of the park in Unai Emery’s first season in charge.
The Arsenal star scored two times in 34 games in the Premier League but Torreira couldn’t help the Gunners to finish in the top four.
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04, while Arsenal haven’t finished in the top four in the past three seasons.
The north London side lost 4-1 to Chelsea FC in the Europa League final last month.
