Liverpool FC have made a £40m bid to sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon this summer, according to reports in the Portuguese media.
Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Reds are keen on a deal to bring the 24-year-old midfielder to Anfield this summer.
According to the same story, Fernandes is expected to be one of the most “in demand” players during the summer transfer window thanks to his recent good form for Sporting.
The same article says that Liverpool FC are interested in signing Fernandes along with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, it is Liverpool FC who have made the first official move to try and sign him, with the same story claiming that Jurgen Klopp’s side have made a €45m (£40m) offer as they look for their first signing of the summer.
The same story, though, says that Sporting are looking for a considerably higher fee than that given the large interest in his services.
Fernandes was in fine form for Sporting last season, scoring 20 goals and making 13 assists in 33 league appearances.
The same article says that although Fernandes has a €100m (£86m) buyout clause in his contract, he is expected to move for less than that.
