Steve Nicol believes that Arsenal should pursue a deal to sign Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
The north London side are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings as Unai Emery prepares for his second season in charge of the Gunners.
Rabiot has long been linked with a move away from PSG due to his contract situation at the French club.
The 24-year-old’s current deal with the Ligue 1 champions is set to expire in the summer and that means that a club could sign him without paying PSG a transfer fee.
And ESPN pundit Nicol seems to think that Rabiot would be an ideal signing for Arsenal this summer as the Gunners look to bolster their options.
Speaking to ESPN FC, Nicol said: “Adrien Rabiot to the Premier League I think would be a good move for any Premier League team,” Nicol said.
“And I think there’s one team in particular who would benefit – Arsenal. He seems ideal for Arsenal.
“Unai Emery knows him as well, he should know his game inside out.
“Arsenal need somebody in the middle of the park, that’s for sure.
“I’m going to say Rabiot to the Premier League – yes. And the destination should be Arsenal.”
Arsenal do not have the lure of Champions League football to attract potential signings this summer after they finished fifth in the Premier League table.
The Gunners missed their final opportunity to secure Champions League qualification when they lost 4-1 to Chelsea FC in the Europa League final in Baku last month.
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
