Jordan Henderson believes that Mohamed Salah has a point to prove ahead of Liverpool FC’s Champions League final showdown against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Egypt international was injured in a challenge with Sergio Ramos in the first half of last year’s final against Real Madrid, as Liverpool FC slumped to a disappointing 3-1 loss to the Spanish giants.

Liverpool FC are aiming to try and go one step further this season as they look to try and win their first major trophy under Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds will take on Tottenham in Madrid next weekend as they bid to try and beat their Premier League rivals and win the Champions League for the sixth time in their history.

Liverpool FC captain Henderson seems to think that Salah is in fine shape heading into the final and believes that he could well have a point to prove in this year’s showpiece.

Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Mirror, Henderson said: “Obviously that [last year’s final] was a massive disappointment to him.

“Everything he had done leading up to the final and then having to come off early.

“Of course it will be a big motivation to him to go out and show what he can do in a Champions League final and – touch wood – he can do it in the whole game.

“I know he can’t wait to get out there again.”

Henderson added: “You do feel the need as a team to comfort him – as a person rather than anything else. Of course you do because he was so emotional that he couldn’t contribute to that game as much as he would have liked.

“But football changes very quickly and he had to focus on being fir for the World Cup in Russia which he eventually did.”

Liverpool FC finished in second place in the Premier League table this season and just a point behind champions Manchester City.

The Merseyside outfit have not won a trophy since Jurgen Klopp was brought in as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October 2015.
