Arsenal are hoping that Matteo Guendouzi will be able to convince Alexis Claude-Maurice to move to the north London club this summer, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Gunners are eager to sign Guendouzi’s former Lorient team-mate to bolster their attacking options in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal like the idea of signing Claude-Maurice given that the French prospect is available in a cut-price £9m deal this summer, the report goes on to say.
The same article states that Arsenal are facing competition for the promising striker’s signature from Monaco, Lille, Frankfurt and Norwich.
According to the same story, the Gunners are hoping that Guendouzi’s successful first season in the Premier League can convince Claude-Maurice to move to Arsenal.
Unai Emery signed the energetic French midfielder in a £7m deal from Ligue 2 side Lorient in the 2018 summer transfer window.
The Arsenal manager wasn’t afraid to give Guendouzi the chance to shine in the Arsenal team from the start of the season.
Guendouzi played in 33 games in the Premier League and the 20-year-old made a further 13 appearances in cup competitions.
Arsenal can still end Emery’s first season in charge with some silverware if the Gunners beat Chelsea FC in the Europa League final.
