Arsenal are interested in a potential deal to sign Lorient striker Alexis Claude-Maurice, according to a report in England.
The Daily Express is reporting that the Gunners have been keeping tabs on Claude-Maurice throughout the Premier League season ahead of a potential swoop for the promising striker.
The same article states that the French prospect would be available to sign at around the £9m mark in the 2019 summer transfer window.
According to the same story, the Gunners could face competition from European rivals AS Monaco and Eintracht Frankfurt for the striker.
The Daily Express report suggests that Arsenal have more financial muscle than the French and German clubs and would find it easier to orchestrate a deal.
Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi moved to Arsenal in a £7m deal from Ligue 2 side Lorient last summer following Emery’s appointment.
The 20-year-old scored one goal in 44 appearances in all competitions in his first season as an Arsenal player in the Premier League.
Claude-Maurice netted 14 goals in 35 games in Ligue 2 last season to finish as Lorient’s top goal-scorer in the second tier of French football.
Arsenal have a limited transfer budget but Emery could be given greater funds if the Gunners beat Chelsea FC in the Europa League final and seal Champions League qualification.
