Phil Brown has praised Scott McTominay for his “top drawer” attitude after he scored Manchester United’s opener in their 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United had been in poor form heading into Sunday’s game, and they had only won one of their last five Premier League matches heading into the clash.
McTominay has impressed whenever called upon this season, and he scored the opener in the 14th minute at the John Smith’s Stadium when he fired home a left-footed effort.
The Red Devils went in 1-0 up at the break but Huddersfield Town fought back after the break.
The relegated hosts equalised in the 60th minute when Isaac Mbenza slotted a cool finish past David De Gea to level the game.
Former Hull City manager Brown was impressed by McTominay’s display as he compared the midfielder’s attitude directly to that of Paul Pogba.
Speaking during BBC Radio 5 live‘s coverage of the game, Brown said: “I was looking forward to seeing Scott McTominay play.
“If you look at the attitude between him and Paul Pogba, one is horrendous and the other is top drawer.
“I’ll leave you to guess which is which.”
Brown continued: “Paul Pogba when he gives the ball away, he just doesn’t look bothered. His body language isn’t right.
“Scott McTominay may do the same but he wants to win it back, Pogba just does not do that.”
The result means that Manchester United have missed out on Champions League qualification for next season.
Manchester United will take on Cardiff City in their final game of the Premier League season on Sunday next weekend as they look to end what has been a largely disappointing campaign on a high.
