Arsenal are hoping to land a deal to sign Lucas Torreira’s former Sampdoria midfield partner Dennis Praet, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Arsenal interested in a deal to bring the 24-year-old to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The same article states that the Gunners are hoping to reunite Torreira with Praet to establish a fruitful partnership in the Arsenal team.
According to the same story, Arsenal believe that the Belgium international can act as a long-term replacement for Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey.
Corriere dello Sport go on to claim that Praet could be available for a deal around €20m in the summer, which would suit Arsenal given their tight summer budget.
Praet, who faced Arsenal during his Anderlecht career, has scored two goals and has made two assists in 29 games in Serie A for Sampdoria this season.
Torreira has been a big hit in the Premier League following his £26m switch to Arsenal from Sampdoria in the 2018 summer transfer window.
The Uruguay international has established himself as a firm favourite with the Gunners supporters thanks to his tenacious work-rate.
Arsenal will take on La Liga side Valencia in the Europa League semi-finals next week.
The Gunners are also aiming to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.
