Gus Poyet has admitted that Chelsea FC dropped two important points after their 2-2 draw with Burnley on Monday night.
The visitors took a surprise lead in the eighth minute when Jeff Hendrick had put the visitors in front at Stamford Bridge.
However, Chelsea FC soon fought back and they were level in the 12th minute when N’Golo Kante equalised for the home side.
January loan signing Gonzalo Higuain then scored moments later to make it 2-1.
However, Ashley Barnes then equalised in the 24th minute to make it 2-2 heading into half-time.
Chelsea FC struggled to break down the Clarets in the second half and ended up having to settle for a point in front of their home fans.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Poyet said: “Chelsea were in control and the team that was attacking the most, but we were expecting that from Burnley.
“Chelsea were playing inside [the opposition box] but Burnley were so tight and compact in their own box that they were unable to get through.
He added: “It’s a shame. Those games you have to win. You’re at home, against a team that is at the bottom. It’s two really important points that Chelsea lost today.”
The result left Chelsea FC in fourth place in the Premier League table and a point ahead of Arsenal with three games left to play. The Gunners, however, have played a game less than the Blues.
The Blues will return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.
