Chelsea FC are ready to try and sign Nicolas Pepe from Lille as a replacement for Eden Hazard this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the west London side are prepared to try and bring the 23-year-old Ivory Coast winger to Stamford Bridge ahead of next season.
According to the same story, Pepe has “made it clear” that he wants to leave Lille this summer and Chelsea FC are thought to be strongly interested.
However, it is claimed in the same article that Lille have responded to Pepe’s desire to leave by placing a £70m price-tag on his head.
The same story says that Chelsea FC are “resigned” to losing Hazard in the summer transfer window, with Real Madrid likely to land their man ahead of next season.
Hazard’s current contract at Chelsea FC is set to expire at the end of the season and the 28-year-old Belgian playmaker has shown no signs that he is ready to sign a new deal.
Pepe has been in good form for Lille so far this season, scoring an impressive 19 goals and making 11 assists in 32 Ligue 1 games for the French side.
Chelsea FC return to Premier League action on Monday night when they host Burnley at Stamford Bridge.
