Ashley Cole has admitted that he doesn’t want to think about the prospect of Eden Hazard leaving Chelsea FC in the summer transfer window.
The Belgium international has been strongly linked with a move away from Chelsea FC this summer, with Real Madrid touted as a likely destination for the 28-year-old playmaker.
Hazard is widely regarded as one of European football’s top attacking talents and he has been in fine form for Chelsea FC this season, scoring 16 goals and making 12 assists in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old was Chelsea FC’s most dangerous player but he failed to make an impact as the Blues slumped to a disappointing 2-0 loss to Liverpool FC at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
And former Chelsea FC defender Cole has admitted that he doesn’t even want to entertain the thought of Hazard leaving the west London club this summer.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Sunday’s game, Cole said: “I don’t want to think about it [Hazard leaving].
“After today’s performance he was brilliant. The way he brings players into the game. The chances he had he was unlucky.
“I can’t see why he’d want to leave to be honest. He loves the club, the club loves him.
“Real Madrid the club he loves, the manager he loves, it’s going to be difficult to keep him but I think he will stay to be honest. I do.
“I just know how much he adores the club and I think he should stay.”
Chelsea FC will return to Europa League action on Thursday night when they host Slavia Prague in the return leg of their quarter-final tie.
The Blues won the first leg 1-0 last week in the Czech Republic.
Chelsea FC are next in Premier League action when they host Burnley next Monday night.
