Gary Lineker took to social media to praise Heung-Min Son for scoring Tottenham’s first goal at their new stadium in their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
Spurs were playing their first competitive game in their new ground after it was finally completed last month.
A crowd of 59,215 were gathered in the new ground, but Spurs were unable to break the deadlock in the first half in front of their home fans.
However, after a goalless first half, it was Son who netted the opener when he fired home via a deflection after the ball fell to him on the edge of the box.
And Christian Eriksen made the three points secure with a goal in the 80th minute.
Former Spurs star Lineker was clearly delighted to see Son break the deadlock in north London.
The ex-England international tweeted: “And the opening goal at the new @SpursOfficial stadium goes to Heung-Min Son. ”
Earlier in the game, Lineker revealed how impressed he was by the club’s new stadium.
He said on Twitter: “What a stadium @SpursOfficial. Worth the wait. Fan-bloody-tastic.”
After the final whistle, he then added: Stat: “Spurs are the only team to have won every game they’ve ever played in their own stadium.”
Tottenham Hotspur will be next in action when they take on Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday 9 April.
The Lilywhites are aiming to finish in the top four this season following their disappointing run of form in recent weeks.
