Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is cautiously optimistic that Anthony Martial will be available for Manchester United’s trip to Wolves on Tuesday night.
The France international was forced off during Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Martial scored Manchester United’s second goal after his strike partner Marcus Rashford broke the deadlock in the first half.
The 23-year-old produced a calm finish to double the home side’s lead to ensure Solskjaer made a winning start to his permanent reign.
However, Martial had to be replaced less than five minutes later with an apparent injury problem.
Manchester United have the chance to hoist themselves into third spot above Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal with a victory over Wolves in midweek.
The Red Devils will be eager to extract some revenge after Wolves were 2-1 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-final last month.
And Solskjaer believes Martial could be fit for the trip to Molineux.
“I don’t know,” Solskjaer is quoted as saying by Metro.
“Hopefully he [Martial] can be available for Tuesday. He got a bad knock. We’ll check him on Monday morning, probably.”
Martial has scored 10 goals and has made two assists in 22 games in the Premier League this season.
The France star signed a new long-term contract with the Red Devils last month to secure his future at Old Trafford.
Manchester United signed Martial in a £36m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in the 2015 summer transfer window.
