Real Madrid will only sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea FC if the Spanish side fail to land Kylian Mbappe this summer, Guillem Balague has claimed.
The Belgium international has been linked with a move to Real Madrid regularly over the past 12 months as his Chelsea FC contract continues to run down.
Hazard will have 12 months left to go on his current deal at the end of the season, presenting the chance for clubs to sign the Belgian playmaker in a cut-price deal.
Zinedine Zidane’s return to Real Madrid was presumed to have heightened the likelihood of los Blancos swooping to sign the 28-year-old in the summer.
Real Madrid have been linked with a number of top attackers in recent weeks as the Champions League holders look to sign a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
And La Liga expert Balague has now claimed that Hazard is behind Mbappe in Real Madrid’s transfer wish-list and will only move to the Spanish capital if the La Liga giants miss out on Mbappe.
“It’s either Hazard or Neymar/Mbappe,” Balague told his YouTube channel.
“So one of the two, Neymar or Mbappe – and if they don’t get one of them, they will try to sign Hazard.
“Mbappe is the preference, then Neymar.
“PSG are convinced they won’t go. Neymar’s dad has said he’s negotiating a new deal for him to stay at PSG.
“It’s not how it used to be when Real identified a target, went for him and got him. It’s not like that anymore.
“They don’t have the financial power. PSG’s a richer club right now.”
Chelsea FC will be eager to hold onto their prized asset given his important contribution to the west London side over the past seven seasons.
Hazard has won two Premier League titles, the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup since moving to Chelsea FC from Lille in 2012.
