Gary Neville kept his reaction to Alexis Sanchez’s winner short and sweet after the Chile star scored a 90th minute goal to seal Manchester United’s 3-2 win against Newcastle United on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils were under pressure to deliver a big performance at Old Trafford amid emerging reports that Manchester United were set to part company with Jose Mourinho irrespective of the result against the Magpies.

Manchester United were looking to end a four-game winless run across three different competitions following a disappointing goalless draw with La Liga side Valencia in the Champions League mid-week.

However, the Reds Devils conceded an early goal at Old Trafford after on-loan Chelsea FC winger Kenedy broke the deadlock in the seventh minute to heap pressure on his former manager Mourinho.

Manchester United were plunged into a deeper crisis three minutes later when Yoshinori Muto extended the visitors’ lead with a close range finish after disorganised defending from the hosts.

Mourinho brought on Juan Mata after just 15 minutes to replace Eric Bailly, while Marouane Fellaini took over from Scott McTominay at the half-time break.

Mata halved the deficit to offer hope of an unlikely comeback in the 70th minute before Anthony Martial combined with Paul Pogba to level the Premier League clash with a clinical finish.

Sanchez was on the bench following his poor mid-week showing against Valencia but the January signing proved to be Manchester United’s match-winner.

The 29-year-old netted his first goal of the season in the 90th minute, having replaced Marcus Rashford minutes earlier.

Former Manchester United defender Neville, who has been outspoken in the media in recent days amid reports Mourinho was on the brink of the sack, kept his Twitter reaction succinct.

Neville posted the following emoji on his Twitter page in reaction to Sanchez’s goal: “❤

The Sky Sports pundit added: “Right !! Good day all round . @SalfordCityFC and @ManUtd comfortable wins 😉

Former Liverpool FC striker Collymore, on the other hand, was in no doubt that Mourinho must go despite their 3-2 comeback win.

Collymore wrote on social media: “Why Mourinho must go.

“Now has stitched up Bailly ( his signing), and Lindelof (his signing) by not replacing the former with the latter.

“Then he stitches up McTominay, a rookie midfielder asked at 2-0 down to play CD, before taking him off at HT.

“Dreadful man management.”

Manchester United will take on Mourinho’s former club Chelsea FC in their next Premier League fixture on 20 October after the international break.
