Sol Campbell has warned Arsenal that they will regret selling Aaron Ramsey if the Welshman is allowed to leave the north London side.
The Gunners star’s future has been a source of speculation over the past few months given the uncertainty surrounding his contract situation.
Ramsey’s representatives were reported to have been in negotiations with Arsenal over a potential contract as the Gunners looked to avoid losing another top star on a free transfer.
However, the Emirates Stadium outfit have taken their offer off the table to throw up the possibility of Ramsey securing a move in the 2019 summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old has made two assists in six starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League under Arsene Wenger’s replacement Unai Emery.
The Spanish head coach appears to value what Ramsey can bring to the Arsenal team particularly from his role in the middle of the park.
Reports in the British media have suggested that Liverpool FC could sign Ramsey on a free transfer despite the litany of midfielders already at Anfield.
Former Arsenal defender Campbell believes the Gunners would be foolish to allow the Wales international to run down his contract at the end of the season.
“It is worrying. Rambo’s a fantastic player, a great guy. It’s a shame but it’s a recurring situation at Arsenal,” Campbell told the Evening Standard.
“Ozil took a long time, Sanchez as well and then he went.
“Ramsey’s a top player, losing him for free would be a mistake.”
Ramsey has established himself as a key member of the Arsenal team following his move to the Gunners from Cardiff City in 2008.

Sir Alex Ferguson was thought to been keen on signing the Wales international and even spoke to then Cardiff manager Dave Jones about the talented midfielder.
However, Ramsey opted to move to Arsenal ahead of Manchester United given Wenger’s reputation for giving youngsters a chance to shine in the Gunners first team.
He suffered a horrific leg break at Stoke City in 2010 to hamper his progress at the north London outfit following a poor challenge from Ryan Shawcross.
Ramsey, though, bounced back to score in a 3-2 win over Hull City in the FA Cup final in May 2014 to win his first major trophy at Arsenal.
The versatile midfielder has gone on to win two more FA Cup crowns but the Arsenal star is still waiting to get his hands on the Champions League and the Premier League.
