Maurizio Sarri singled out Eden Hazard for special praise for his defensive performance in Chelsea FC’s draw with Liverpool FC in the Premier League on Saturday.
Hazard has rightly been earning plenty of praise for his strong attacking displays this season, with the Belgian having netted seven goals and made two assists in the Premier League so far.
The 27-year-old gave Chelsea FC the lead in the first half of their Premier League clash with Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge on Saturday before they were eventually pegged back by Daniel Sturridge’s equaliser.
The Belgian playmaker looks to be hitting top form under Sarri at Stamford Bridge – but the new manager was even more impressed by Hazard’s defensive game than this attacking display on Saturday against the Reds.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Sarri said: “I am really very happy with him for the defensive phase, especially in the second half when the team needed help from him [Hazard].
“For us, his attitude is very important. When we are trying to defend looking at the ball, we need players who will participate in the defensive phase, otherwise it is impossible.”
Chelsea FC are now currently preparing for their home clash against Videoton at Stamford Bridge in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Blues will then travel to Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as they look to try and return to winning ways in the top flight.
Chelsea FC are currently third in the table and two points behind leaders Manchester City.
