Alisson Becker has warned Liverpool FC to expect a tough Champions League clash against Napoli on Tuesday night.

The Reds eased to a 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain in their opening fixture in Europe courtesy of goals from Daniel Sturridge, James Milner and Roberto Firmino.

Liverpool FC were drawn in a tough group alongside PSG, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade to make their opening day win over the French champions all the more significant.

The Merseyside outfit remain unbeaten in the Champions League and the Premier League in the current campaign to underline their ability to challenge on both fronts this term.

Alisson is well aware of the threat that Napoli pose following his two seasons at Italian club AS Roma before his £67m move to Liverpool FC in August.

Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website ahead of their trip to Napoli on Wednesday night, Alisson said:

“It’s always tough playing away against a great club. In Napoli, we’ll definitely find really passionate fans, and a team that comes onto the pitch with a huge desire to win. The last and only time I played there, we happily got a win, but it was one of the games I had to work hardest in during the season.

“It was one of the toughest games of the season for us in Serie A, so it’s definitely going to be a tough game. They’ve had the same basis of the team for three to four years.

“I hope we have a great game and achieve the victory, but it’ll definitely be a big challenge for us.”

Alisson has played 24 games in the Champions League in his career in Europe so far, helping AS Roma to reach the semi-finals last term before a 5-4 aggregate loss to Liverpool FC.

The 26-year-old conceded five times in AS Roma’s games against Napoli last season but the Brazil number one has been in excellent form in the Liverpool FC team so far.

However, the Brazilian goalkeeper has good memories from his trip to Napoli in his last season in Serie A after AS Roma secured a 4-2 win at the Stadio San Paolo.

“I’ve only played once there, the season before that I was on the bench – I think we lost, I can’t remember! But actually playing there, just good memories, a victory,” Alisson said.

“It’s great to win there because it’s a great footballing atmosphere, an atmosphere that drives you and stokes your desire to win.”

Alisson has impressed with four Premier League clean sheets in Liverpool FC’s victories over West Ham, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Southampton in the Premier League so far.

The Liverpool FC number one will have a stern test of his credentials in the Premier League this Sunday when Jurgen Klopp’s side welcome title rivals Manchester City to Anfield.

The Merseyside outfit lost 5-0 at Manchester City in September 2017 after Sadio Mane was sent off in the first half at The Etihad.

Liverpool FC were 4-3 winners in the return fixture and followed up that result with a 5-1 aggregate victory over Pep Guardiola’s side in the Champions League quarter-finals at the end of the 2017-18 season.
