Steven Gerrard has described Roberto Firmino as an “absolute genius” and says that the Brazilian will be key to Liverpool FC’s title hopes this season.
The Brazilian attacker is widely regarded as one of the top forwards in the country and he has been in fine form for Jurgen Klopp’s side in recent campaigns.
The 26-year-old has scored two goals and made two assists in seven Premier League outings so far this season – and he has also netted once in the Champions League for Klopp’s men.
Firmino played the full 90 minutes on Saturday evening as Chelsea FC came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Liverpool FC in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.
And former Liverpool FC captain Gerrard believes that Firmino is clearly one of the most talented attacking players around.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, Gerrard said: “Firmino is an absolute genius when you watch him close up. He’s as interested in setting up a goal as scoring one.”
Firmino will be hoping to feature for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a crunch clash against Napoli in Italy.
The Reds sealed a dramatic 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League group stage opener at Anfield last month.
The Merseyside outfit are currently second in the Premier League table and level on points with leaders Manchester City.
